Why oh why?

Oh Jennifer Garner, how I do adore thee. You were so cute in 13 going on 30 and fun to watch in Felicity. Tonight I even watched my very first episode of Alias....ever. (I am sometimes the last one to jump on to the clue train) Because I do adore you Jen, I have to ask: Elektra. What's up? I saw this movie tonight with my Mom and was sorely disappointed with the lack of passion in the playing out of this film. It felt more like sitting through a recitation than being told a story. Also, I was so hoping for some good chick fight scenes (really, what's more cool than chicks who can kick ass and do so frequently?) and instead was met with a couple of awkwardly choreographed entanglements and a girl on girl kissing scene that works as both a PSA for the movie and against lesbianism. Guys will dig it because... cmon, it's girls kissing. The Christian Reich will dig it because the kiss is sucking the life out of Elektra, which they could use as an anti-homosexuality comment. Instead of the Girl Who Kicks Ass movie I was hoping for, I was given a contrived coming-to-tearful-terms with her childhood, while awkwardly smooching Luca from ER once in a while, and bad guys who couldn't put up even a tiny bit of a fight. One even got killed by a tree. Come ON. All in all, my reccomendation for movie goers is: Wait until you can get it for a dollar and can't find anything else to watch on a Saturday afternoon. It just does not meet up to it's potential. Dang.
