I'll take one of everything

Another song I never knew I NEED to own: Elvis Costello’s “This is hell” and it is also not available via i-tunes or napster (which I downloaded this morning in an “okay whichever’s better will be the one I keep” showdown).

Me and tunes. Boy I tell ya.

In other tune news: today I bought the new Eminem album. For some reason my love of this man continues to shock and confuse most of the people I run into on a daily basis. I’m not sure why. The guy is freakishly talented. He’s smart. He says a lot of things I agree with (and a ton of things I don’t). He makes me think. All of these are likeable qualities in a person. Somehow though, whenever somebody finds out I love this guy, it is met with sentences like:

“Oh my god, I can’t believe you like him. I hate him. I’ve never listened to him but I know what he’s about and I can’t believe you like him.”

“Ew. He like tells boys to, like, kill their mothers. You like that?”

“YOU like Eminem? You like Eminem. No way do YOU like Eminem.”

Or, my favorite reaction so far: “You like him?? But he’s a rapper and you’re…like….a girl…and white….and stuff.” Oh how I wish I had thought to ask this person to define “and stuff.”

It strikes me as funny how narrowminded people can be without their realizing it. Apparently a little white girl from Oregon isn’t allowed to like Eminem. Oh how I love never living up to the stereotypes people try to box me into.

And now that “I Sing The Body Electric” (from the Fame soundtrack) has finished downloading, I think I will go to bed. Goodnight!
