Someone who "gets it" volume one

Today I went "home" for the first time since I moved back to Oregon. I know that the town I live in now is also home, but my heart will always feel the homey feelings for my little Coastal Village. It was really great to be back in that town and spending time with one of my favorite people on the planet. It felt a lot like old times but a lot different now as the first Lunch Bunch offspring (Fiona) was also there and she and I bonded by pushing ice cubes around on the table and making truck sounds while my Mom and Wendy talked about video games. It's funny how as you grow up, you change and become different people but you still relate on the same basic level, and the bond is still strong--even though you haven't really hung out in forever. It's good to know that there are still people who "get it."

Also it's really fun to hang out with somebody who, no matter what the situation, has the ability to make you laugh so hard your teeth chatter and your stomach screams.

I'll write more about it later on. There is a lot brewing under this post, but the short version is: Today was awesome. It's good that being apart for so long hasn't done a bit to diminish the great bond that I have with one of my oldest and awesomest friends in the world....who, by the way, has the most well behaved toddler you will ever meet. What a great kid Fiona is! She's a reflection of her Mom.
