Shh...
It's time for a pet peeve entry.
It drives me crazy to have movies criticized for not being "realistic." You know what I'm talking about. You're sitting there, trying to enjoy a movie and somebody else in the room picks the whole thing apart.
"That would never happen."
*tsk* "That's soooooooo fake."
"Why doesn't he just date somebody else?"
*annoyed sigh* "He should just get another job. Nobody would really take that."
"This is dumb."
"I know what's going to happen. This is boring."
"This movie is weird. I can't believe somebody actually wasted money making this."
These types of comments come, of course, from somebody who has never in their life tried to write a screenplay, or play a part. They come from that person who has exactly zero experience in the creative arts industry. They are also usually from somebody who has exactly zero experience with the situation being depicted on the screen. Their comments drown out the movie and not only are annoying to the people forced to listen to them, but they keep the person making them from actually watching the movie. For these people I have the following advice:
Shut the hell up. If you hate the movie so much or think it's so stupid, get up and go do something else. Don't let your ignorant running commentary ruin the movie for people who are having a good time watching. It's a movie. If it were supposed to be absolutely realistic it would be a documentary. And if you think you are so much smarter than the writers and actors then get off your wise ass and go make a better movie for people to watch. Just don't come crawling back to me whining that it's hard.
Oh PS. Maybe you should watch more than fifteen seconds of the movie before deciding you are such an authority on it that you feel entitled to pass judgement on it.
*sigh* It's been a long day.
