I Want To Pet Bill Maher

I know that this will bring tears to eyes of the MTV influenced, but I'm not really a fan of Carson Daly. Something about the guy just bugs me. So, when Conan is over, staying up even later to catch Carson isn't usually on the agenda. I do, however, usually watch to see who is on and if the guests are cool I will keep the tv on long enough to watch them.

This was the case tonight. Bill Maher was the first guest and I'm glad I stayed up.

I jumped on the Maherwagon a few months ago when I caught him on Leno. He was smart, he was hilarious, he was inspiring. You know how it goes. You see somebody. You listen to them speak and when they are done speaking, you go "Yeah! What HE said!" The urge to throw the goat becomes unbearable and though you are sitting alone in the middle of your living room and there isn't a soul around to benefit from the goat viewage your arm flings upward and a goat is thrown.

Or maybe it's just me.

I used to feel similarly enraptured with Dennis Miller. I even bought The Raw Feed, Dennis's latest stand-up DVD. It sold for ten bucks at Target......a sign that really should have jumped out at me. Turning on the DVD, I was more than dissappointed. I was disenheartened. My beloved ranting Dennis Miller had gone..........Republican. He has gone public with his approval for Mr. UhWhat?(Bush) and now bashes liberals. It was a dark day in the Erinverse, the day Dennis Miller "came out" as a Conservative.

But now I have Bill Maher. Lovely Bill, whose straightforward scorn for our current situation warms me to my toes. I love funny cynics.
