Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm
Tonight I watched Escape from LA.
It's the second time I watched this particular ode to LA.
The first time I watched it, I sat in a huge old movie theater on the Oregon Coast. That's right, I watched it when it first came out, back before the theater had cup holders on the seats. In addition to myself, the theater housed my Mom, Wendy, and this guy who, from the back, looked exactly like the lead singer of the Crash Test Dummies.
This same guy was first spotted while Mom, Wendy and I walked down the sidewalk on our way to the ticket window. Ahead of us was a guy with long dark hair that reached all the way to his baggy jean encased butt.
I nudged Wendy and said "Hey, you know who that guy reminds me of?" Wendy immediately shrieked "You noticed too???" and we started humming "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm." We were much louder than we had intended because the guy turned around, to see who was being crazy behind him. Instantly we stopped Mmming and started to choke on bitten back guffaws. The rest of the walk down the sidewalk we snorted and chortled as tried to suppress our laughter. When the guy stopped at the ticket window of the theater we skidded to a stop. Wendy "eeep"ed which caused me to "HA!" and then we both started wheezing with that silent laughter where your mouth opens really wide and your stomach hurts but no real sound comes out. After pausing to let the guy get safely inside the theater Mom walked up to the ticket window and bought three tickets to a movie she was already embarassed to be going to see. We quickly stocked up on popcorn and sodas and headed into the theater. We got ourselves situated and then without meaning to I very loudly said "No way" because that same guy was sitting just a few rows in front of us and was the only other person in the theater! Wendy started her girly giggle (she has a great many ways to laugh) and then I started to laugh and it wasn't long before we were competely hysterical. No sooner would one of us get calmed down than the other would mumble "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" and set us off again.
Tonight when I watched the movie, I popped the DVD into the player and before I remembered the original viewing, hummed Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm to myself. Good times.
