Brain Paper
A little over four years ago I was living just outside of San Francisco. Most of my time in that area was spent doing theater, working at the bookstore, going to class, and writing papers the night before they were due. To me, a jaunt to town meant going to Wendys and then renting a video from Blockbuster. Every once in a while, my inner drifter would take over and I would hop the CalTrain into the city and take a walk around.
God, I loved San Francisco. It is, by far, my favorite city in the world and if I had the money I would move back in a heartbeat. I loved the variety, the pulse, the heart it had. I loved the "come as you are" atmosphere. I loved the architecture, and the quirky little things that were just so completely "artsy city."
Anyway...
The last time I went to spend the day in the city I took my camera. I bought an economy sized box of film and just wandered. I took pictures of everything. I was totally alone and in my element--finally committing to film my ideas of what the city was really about.
I finally got those rolls of film developed this past weekend.
I don't mean to be a tease, because I didn't get them put on a disk, so I can't post them... but I got some really good shots. Someday I will have them put on a photo CD or something and post a few. Even now, after having four years to build these images up in my mind, I am suprised at how well some of them came out. None of them are too shabby who, when she was little, once told her teacher that she thought in pictures and art class was really hard because I couldn't make what I put on the page match what my brain was seeing.
