So most of today was spent working on my archives--transferring (man, no matter how I spell that, it looks weird) them from disk to site. I still have some of April, and all of May and some of June to get done, but not to worry, it WILL get done. After all, if I don't work on the blog, there really is no other reasonable excuse to pick up my room or unpack....actually I think I will at least try to unpack some more of my clothes because going out to the garage and sifting through boxes is no longer an adventure. It's quickly becoming annoying. I watched Independence Day tonight for the first time in YEARS. My Mom and her boyfriend were making fun of it, but I still kind of like it. It was fun to look at the graphics which were sooooo high tech and phenomenal back in 1996, and now look like PlayStation fodder, and to appreciate the subtle genius that is Jeff Goldblum. He has the best lines all through the movie. I think my favorite is "Umm..... Hide." Good times. Also, for the last couple of days I've had this scene playing in my head and I can't rid of it. I've heard of people having songs in their head (I was haunted by Yellow Submarine all through my junior year of high school) but I haven't ever had a scene stuck in my head. The scene is from Empire of the Sun (absolutely fantastic movie). It's the scene where the camp is being attacked by Japanese pilots and Christian Bale's character is up on the roof of one of the buildings jumping around and screaming because he is getting to see the plane of his dreams in action. He is obviously oblivious (wooha how's that for a word combo?) to the fact that the pilots in these very planes are attacking the base his camp is next to and his camp itself. He's too caught up in the joy of being surrounded by roaring P-51s. He's screaming "P 51 Cadillac of the Sky!! Whoaaaa! I touched them! I touched them! I felt their heat! Iron and Cordite!" and the scene goes on from there to actually bring quite a tear to the eye, but that's the part that is going through my brain. I wonder what it means.
