So last night I ended up going on the equivalent of a Web crawl with my CDs.
When I think of Web Crawling, I don't think simply of a search engine. I think of starting out on one site and then just following links from one site to the next in the order your interest takes you. I had the musical equivalent to that last night until I ended up where I started. I was a circumlistenvigator. My particular path, while short went like this:
David Bowie's Space Oddity --> David Bowie/John Lennon's Fame -->Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World --> Nirvana's cover of The Man Who Sold the World --> Entire Nirvana album (the one released a couple of years ago) -->latest Pearl Jam album -->David Bowie and his *entire* Best of Bowie collection (both CDs) --> "Under Pressure" for, oh, a couple of hours or so on repeat.
Start with David Bowie, End on David Bowie. Nice.
Although....I think I might be about to fall headfirst into a David Bowie. Thank God it costs money to register for davidbowie.com or I might be immersed in Ziggyness right now. It would be a cool phase though. I can see it now, little me rattling around in very conservative Oregon ruralia spouting praises of David Bowie and quoting lyrics. Good times. Man, with that and supporting Clinton's book I bet I'd be burned on a stake made out of local timber with a fire made from somebody's collection of banned books (which of course I would be telling people to read as the flames crept higher). Wooha!
Actually this area isn't so bad. I might even find a few Bowie freaks :)
