Typin' Typin away
As I sit here on the ground floor of the lovely library, Katie is off somewhere upstairs tracking down a Nevada travel book. As we are horrible procrastinators and stayed up waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy too late talking last night (after neither of us had gotten much sleep the night before), we decided to wait and mail my boxes until tomorrow, which--let's face it--will probably be left until Thursday. There is a poem Katie wrote a long time ago that, with her permission and when I find it, I will post about procrastination that is just awesome.
Today's plan is to head out to Red Rock Canyon (my favorite place close to the city) and wander around a couple of places there and then if we have any energy left we will head to downtown Vegas to marvel at what is the Fremont Street Experience. In my three years of living here I have never even come close to going there, and Katie wants to see it so we're going. Also, it seems to be one of those places that you just have to do because of it's lame tourist-trappy reputation. Woohooooo lameness!
Last night was pretty fun inspite of coming home to a premature (and missent) eviction notice (taken care of this morning, no sweat. Don't panic!). The maintenance people had come in and fixed both my toilet (rusty chains do not a flusher make) and my hot water tank which had a serious rusty hole leak problem. I can now take a hot shower that lasts longer than six minutes. There goes my training for the Olympic shower races! After sitting around and talking we hit the grocery store and loaded up on snacks and yummy beverages. If you ever wonder how different you are from your friends just go grocery shopping together. I came away with Tortilla chips, soda, butter (for mac n' cheese and other pasta dishes), and generic white bread. Katie had carrotts, fancy bread (I can't remember what kind), water, grapes and salsa to go with my tortilla chips. We also split the cost of a carton of the Yummiest ice cream! I can't remember the name of it, but it's vanilla with chocolate and caramel swirls with chunck of peanut butter chocolate chip thingies. Yum Yum YUM. We also managed to talk the guy running the Panda Express out of most of the rest of his food for the night without any extra cost. We rock.
I should jet out of here and go find her so she can check her e-mail. More tomorrow before we head off to be abducted!
