Radio

One of the first signs of too much movie watchage is when 30 seconds into a film you look at your roommate and say "I think James Horner did the music for this" and to find out that you are right. I just finished watching Radio, which is my roommate's favorite movie. I owed him a movie choice because I've been forcing him to watch Johnny Depp movies for weeks now. He fails to see the [insert plethora of complimentary words here] of Johnny that I see. Radio is really good. It is a sweet movie and I reccommend watching it with two and a half kleenex. It's not a tear jerker, but there are a couple of moments that can choke up even the heartiest of men. The obvious reaction would be to rave about Cuba Gooding Jr as Radio (who is, in fact, a real guy). Yes, he's great. Yes he's charming. Yes he is believable. He's Cuba Gooding Jr. What did you expect? My favorite character in this movie was the assistant coach, played by an actor I can't remember off the top of my head. He isn't on the screen a lot, and he doesn't have more than a few minutes of dialogue, but he is a presence when he is on screen. He adds to Ed Harris' performance in a wonderfully subtle way. He commands the screen but he doesn't upstage the scene......says the hoity-toity theater major. Honestly, if you haven't rented it, it's worth the rental price.... but you won't kick yourself if you wait until it goes down to two dollars. I doubt this will be the only entry I write today as I am in an especially writey mood and will be watching more movies and have an Art Appreciation test to avoid studying for. Happy Valentines Day!
