Last night I watched In The Cut, Meg Ryan's new thriller. It was good to see her in something different... That being said, I didn't really like the movie. I liked Meg in it [more on that later] but the movie was just one sex scene after the other, with a couple of gory murder scenes in between. There wasn't the hugest plot, although I did enjoy the twist at the end. Wait until it goes on for the two dollar rental at Blockbuster. Dont' spend four. I did really enjoy Meg Ryan's performance though. Her character was the opposite of the sort she usually plays and at first she came off as a little flat. I understand what she was doing though, and I admire her for trying it out. I identify with Meg Ryan's frustrations. She is pretty much type cast by now--cutesy women who are on the louder side but make you laugh and are a little wacky. In interviews she has been quoted as saying that she really isn't that way at all and that is what makes me identify with her. People have put me in the "cute" box too and it is a sucky place to be. I'm not saying that I am going to suddenly start acting like Meg's character in In The Cut, but every once in a while I try to fight my way out of the box too. All in all, it's a good effort, but not the greatest movie ever.
